"You should see Jana, she looks beautiful! My groomer did a superb job! She looks like a puppy again. She has a little blue bow on her rump and a blue and white bandanna. Ray used to say she looked like a damn sissy with a bow on her rump!"Mom had been planning to take Jana into town to the dog groomer on Thursday, but her favorite dog groomer had an opening today, and mom jumped at the chance to get Jana cleaned up.
"This morning was the most godawful morning you've ever seen."They'd had about 2 inches of snow overnight, so she went up to brush off her car and start the engine so it could warm up, but the doors were frozen shut. She said she used up almost a whole can of de-icer just to get the door open and the windshield wipers free. Then she said "I don't think I've ever seen the road so bad; it was plain solid ice all the way to Running Y." YIKES!!
When she got to the groomer's she actually stayed there for a while to let the roads warm up a bit, because she had heard on the radio that they were warning people to stay away from South 6th.
After a while she headed over to Hallmark to buy cards. She asked the clerk where to find a particular kind of card, and the clerk said, "My goodness, you buy so many cards here that YOU should be telling US where to find those!" Mom got a chuckle out of that.
She still had time to kill because she couldn't pick Jana up till 2:30 in the afternoon, so she went to Kmart. They don't have motorized carts there, but she went in anyway and found a bonanza of her favorite long-underwear shirts for only $1.49 each. She also found a pair of slippers WITH heels (she pointed out that her heels get cold so she doesn't like the slip-on type). She was so tired by the time she got back out to the car that she just sat there for a while. She said, "I thought, well this is ridiculous! Here I had a chance to do all this stuff and I am just too pooped to do it!"
She still had more time to kill, so she drove around to a couple other stores, but she said that she just felt so tired that she sat in her nice warm car debating whether to go in and decided that she didn't have the energy. Finally she decided to go back early to the groomer's and just sit and wait. But when she arrived at 1:15, here came Jana with the blue bow on her rump! Ann had finished with her early, to mom's delight.
She's going back into town tomorrow for a 10am appointment to get her own hair cut, and then a blood draw at the hospital. Then she has to go in again on Friday for a 12:45 appointment with Kubac.
