Lonna and the Masseuse (Thu, 17 Mar, 2011)

This morning Lonna (hospice CNA) called right before noon to say she was on her way. I left Rocky Point to head north right after that. After a couple hours on the road I called mom to check in and she was bubling over with happiness about her visit with Lonna. Lonna helped her shower (mom pointed out that she really didn't need help, but Lonna made it easier to keep her wounded shin dry...). Mom has really bonded with Lonna, and I can see why--she is a wonderful warm person.

Mom also had her first appointment with Debbie the Hospice masseuse this afternoon. Mom was not quite so enthusiastic about Debbie because the communication wasn't very good. Mom thinks Debbie may be a little deaf, but in any case mom had a hard time having a conversation with her. In spite of that, mom reported that Debbie is a very good masseuse and was able to give her some relief from her tight neck and shoulder muscles.

Bill is arriving this evening and he is taking all next week off work to stay with mom. Tomorrow is a follow-up visit with Sharon, Dr. Kubac's PA.
