Mom said that her trip to the wound clinic this morning wiped her out. The doctor from Lakeview has a very delicate touch, but she had to peel off several more layers of skin, which was a bit of an ordeal for mom. Mom said that even though it looks bad, it really is getting much better, and even the doc commented that it is healing much faster than she expected. Mom said it was a pleasant surprise to hear that. I asked how it's feeling and she said that it stings "like an electric shock."
One of her neighbors took her into town for her appointment and her blood draw, and afterward he took her to Fred Meyer and settled her in a motorized cart to do her shopping. She reported that she was "wiped out" when they got back home.
Another neighbor called her in the afternoon to see if she needed anything, and ended up volunteering to take her into town on Thursday for her appointment with Dr. Kubac.
One of mom's quilter pals got worried because mom hadn't showed up for the Tuesday morning quilting session (she didn't know about mom's Tuesday and Saturday trips to the wound clinic), so her husband came over to check things out. He found an accumulation of the Herald & News and was worried until he got to the cabin and found mom safe and sound. Mom explained that the H&N isn't really good for anything except starting fires in her wood stove so she is in no hurry to pick them up! He stayed for a visit, and told mom that he is going to take her into town on Saturday for her next appointment at the wound clinic. Mom's comment was, "These people are something else again! I am so lucky to live in such a wonderful community of people!"
Mom did sound wiped out, and I said that I hope she would have the energy to eat something for dinner. She said that she is making an effort to stay on her normal routine of meals even though she isn't hungry, and she told me that she has one of her favorite frozen dinners and a small salad planned for tonight.
