Bill and I got to the hospital this morning around 6am. Mom didn't get much sleep last night due to the nurses constantly checking her vital signs, but she is is good spirits. The CNA said that her blood pressure was low all night...in the range of 80 to 90 over 40 to 50. They apparently called Dr. Kubac but he said that was to be expected from the drugs and not to worry about it. When they took her BP this morning at 6:30am, it was 100/60.
Mom said that since she had a hard time sleeping, she got up several times during the night for little walks...to the bathroom, to the window, and even down the hall. She laughed that on one of her jaunts down the hall, she was strolling along with her IV pole and realized that they had disconnected her from it earlier! So she was out for a stroll with her "tall friend!" HAHA She said that she noticed while walking down the hall that she wasn't out of breath for the first time in a long time. That was SO GOOD to hear!!!!
They whisked her away to Xray about 7am, and we assumed that was to check that the wires were still in the right place. When they brought her back, she wanted to sit in the chair so they wrapped her up in blankets and she now looks like my MUMMY. HAHA, lame joke.
She said they kept asking her all night if she was having any pain, but she says there is none. Kubac visited yesterday evening around 6pm, and he said that it is better if she can avoid the pain killers, and she is having no problem with that! Her only complaint this morning was that they put on a kind of wide elastic thing around her ribcage with a holster for her arm to keep it from moving while she slept, and it was pressing on one of the monitoring electrodes. Kubac told her last night that she only had to wear it overnight, so I removed it for her this morning and now she is comfortable.
Her pulse this morning was 75, and her O2 saturation was 94%. Everything is looking good.
Last night she asked Bill and me to smuggle in some contraband...SALT!! She is on the standard hospital cardiac diet, which is a no-salt diet, and she couldn't eat most of her dinner because she disliked the taste with no salt. So we are waiting for her breakfast to arrive, and she is looking forward to having salt on her eggs!
